Scheana Shay Shares Theory on Why Tom Sandoval and Raquel Leviss Were Able to ‘Get Away’ With Affair

Scandoval is hardly the first affair to rock the cast of Vanderpump Rules — and Scheana Shay is attempting to explain why she and her costars missed the signs.

“I’m sure a lot of you caught last week where Sandoval slapped Raquel’s ass behind mine and Ariana [Madix]’s back. … Oh, my God, it’s so cringe, like, how did we not see it? It was in front of our face. It was behind our back. It was right there,” the 37-year-old “Scheananigans” podcast host said on the Friday, April 21, episode of her Dear Media show. “But in this friend group that is obviously incestual at times, this friend group has so much love, and when we’re drinking or whatever, everyone is just extra lovey-dovey and cuddly.”

Scheana noted that while people “like Lala [Kent] and Katie [Maloney] have seen that as very odd — and I’m sure a lot of people from the outside see it as very odd,” she has “never” questioned the closeness of the friend group.

“Ariana never has,” she continued. “That’s why they were able to get away with this for so long in front of our faces.”

Season 10 of the Bravo hit was initially filmed from July 2022 to September 2022 — and Sandoval, 40, has since admitted that he first kissed Raquel, 28, in early August 2022.

Us Weekly confirmed on March 3 that Ariana, 37, had learned two days prior that her longtime partner had been having a months-long affair with Raquel. Sandoval, who started dating the Something About Her co-owner in 2014, claimed he ended things with Ariana weeks before she discovered he had cheated.

“I actually did break up with her on Valentine’s Day,” he said on the “Howie Mandel Does Stuff” podcast on April 11, claiming Ariana was “in denial” about the split. “She’s like, ‘I’m, like, not letting you leave me. You’re gonna have to force me out of this relationship. … If you break up with me, you will effectively be ending my life.’ … We were broken up. She knew we were broken up. We didn’t tell anybody, but she knew.”

Sandoval also accused Ariana of ignoring the signs of his connection with Raquel.

“I was seeing Raquel as often as I could. I know that sounds horrible,” he said. “And FaceTiming her all the time. And Ariana didn’t even notice because that’s just how separate our lives were. I had to actually tell her, ‘How have you not noticed how distant I’ve been lately?'”

During the same interview, he noted that he and Raquel are on a “break.” The SURver has since checked into mental health treatment while he continues to share snaps from his own venture into nature via Instagram Stories. Ariana, meanwhile, was seen packing on the PDA with personal trainer Daniel Wai during the first weekend of Coachella.

The vibrant design clung to the Quantico alum’s curves and featured an off-the-shoulder construction and a flared skirt. Chopra Jonas complemented the gown with a bold red lip and had her brunette tresses styled in bouncy curls. 

On the red carpet, Chopra Jonas channeled her inner Marilyn Monroe, giving cameras a number of sultry poses that showed her slightly bending over and poking out her bum. The move caught the eye of her husband, Nick Jonas, who showered her with kisses as he joined her for photos. The “Jealous” crooner, 30, for his part, looked dapper in an all-black ensemble that included a satin-lined blazer

Chopra Jonas also took snaps with her Citadel costar Richard Madden, who looked handsome in a dark-colored suit jacket. 

The new Amazon Prime Video series follows Chopra Jonas’ Nadia Sinh and Madden’s Mason Kane — two former spies — as they “embark on a mission that takes them around the world” after their memories are wiped following the fall of their agency, Citadel. The show, which hits the streaming platform on April 28, also stars Stanley Tucci, Lesley Manville, Ashley Cummings and Abby Conroy. 

The Isn’t It Romantic star opened up about the project, sharing with Pinkvilla in a, April 19, interview that she wanted this role to be “elevated” and different from her work on Quantico, which ended in August 2018 after three seasons. 

“[In Citadel], I am an agent who is very superior. I mean, over there [in Quantico], I was an FBI agent,” she explained to the outlet. “But it was like policing a little bit more. This [is] sophisticated, it’s intelligence work. So, I wanted to be able to bring a fighting style to her, which is also super confident and quiet.”

Love Is Blind’s production company, Kinetic Content, responded after former cast members of the reality series claimed they were put through “emotional warfare” during their time on the show.

“The well-being of our participants is of paramount importance to Kinetic,” the production company told Variety in a Tuesday, April 18, statement. “We have rigorous protocols in place to care for each person before, during, and after filming.”

Earlier on Tuesday, Business Insider published a report on the Netflix dating series that featured multiple contestants claiming they were mistreated while participating in the streaming hit.

Season 2 star Danielle Ruhl — who got engaged to ex-husband Nick Thompson during her time in the pods — told the outlet that she had issues with production while in Mexico. The Illinois native claimed that she was not allowed to attend an event being held for all the couples because there was a chance she contracted COVID-19. After she began to have a panic attack, she allegedly hid in the closet to avoid cameras and told producers she didn’t feel mentally stable enough to stay on the show.

“I kept telling them, ‘I don’t trust myself. I’ve tried committing suicide before,’” she explained to Business Insider. “’I’m having suicidal thoughts. I don’t think I can continue in this.’

The report also claimed that during the show’s first season, which aired in February 2020 and filmed in Atlanta, Georgia, contestants were forced to sleep in “drab trailers crammed with bunk beds during the 10 days dating in the pods.” All 15 women allegedly stayed in “one single-room trailer, with the 15 men in another.”

Danielle Drouin, who appeared on the debut season, claimed that the groups also didn’t have enough access to food or water. “The sleep deprivation was real,” she said. “I feel like they do it on purpose because they’re trying to break you. They want you on your edge.”

The “Dark Horse” singer — who has been a judge on the ABC reality series since 2018 — got called out for mom-shaming season 21 contestant Sarah Beth Liebe in March 2023.

During Liebe’s televised audition for the singing competition, she surprised the judges when she shared that she was a mother of three at just 25 years old. Perry reacted by leaning against fellow judge Luke Bryan in shock, prompting Liebe to say, “If Katy lays on the table, I think I’m gonna pass out.”

The “Roar” songstress then quipped, “Honey, you’ve been laying on the table too much,” referring to the auditionee’s motherhood journey.

After the moment aired on television, Liebe took to social media to share her thoughts on Perry’s comments.

“I don’t really have too much to say on my feelings about it because I feel like it’s probably pretty self-explanatory. I mean, it was embarrassing to have that on TV and it was hurtful and, you know, that’s that,” she said in a TikTok video.

The music hopeful continued: “I think women supporting and uplifting other women is so cool, and I think that mom-shaming is super lame, and I think that it’s hard enough to be a mom and it’s hard enough to be a woman.”

Poking fun at haters. Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany Mahomes (née Matthews), isn’t afraid to fire back at trolls when it comes to their relationship and family.

During an Instagram Story Q&A on Sunday, April 16, one user accused the former soccer player, 27, of being a “gold digger.” In response, she hilariously joked back, “I wish I dug and found gold.”

Brittany and Patrick, 27, have been together since 2012 and tied the knot after a nearly two-year-long engagement in March 2022. The couple became parents with the birth of their daughter, Sterling Sky, now 2, in February 2021, and later welcomed their son, Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III, 4 months, in November 2022.

While answering more fan responses, the Texas native addressed other questions about her and the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback’s relationship, including one which read, “How do you deal with all the women trying to get after your husband?” Noting that it’s “really sad” to see “how disrespectful some women are,” Brittany said she simply brushes off her husband’s female attention.

In response to her tweet, one Chiefs fan wrote later that month, “Girl. I need you to stop. This was my team long before Patrick was here. It’s not giving the org a good look. Chiefs are bigger than you, me or any one player.” Clearly no stranger to a clapback, Brittany nonchalantly responded, “In the nicest way possible … Shut up.” She later showed grace to another fan who pointed out that “refs aren’t supposed to be in anybody’s favor,” writing, “Valid point.”

In January 2022, the fitness expert was criticized after sharing a video of herself popping champagne following the Chief’s victory over the Bills in an NFL division playoff game, getting bubbly on cold fans below. “I just wish I could do what I want without getting attacked every week,” she tweeted at the time. She followed up the troll comments the following day, tweeting, “Hate is a very strong word to just be thrown at someone you don’t even know.”

During her Instagram Q&A on Sunday, Brittany also weighed in on the controversy surrounding Patrick’s brother, Jackson Mahomes. The 22-year-old is under investigation for assault after he was accused of allegedly assaulting a restaurant owner and waiter in late February. His lawyer has denied the allegations.

Jessie James Decker Calls Out United Airlines After Pregnant Sister Sydney Is ‘Humiliated’ on Flight

 

Standing by her sibling. Jessie James Decker had some strong words for United Airlines after claiming sister Sydney Rae Bass was “humiliated” on a recent flight.

“My sister @sydneyraebass just texted me from her flight on @united,” the country singer, 35, wrote in a lengthy message shared via her Instagram Story on Sunday, April 16. “As you know, she is five months pregnant, high risk, and also traveling alone with her two small children.”

The Eric & Jessie alum’s sister married MLB pitcher Anthony Bass in January 2017, welcoming daughter Brooklyn that September. The couple announced three years later that they were adopting a baby girl and brought home Blaire in October 2020

According to James Decker, “Blaire accidentally spilled some popcorn in the aisle” on the plane. “The flight attendant came up to Sydney with a trash bag, and a wet wipe, telling her the captain wants Syd to clean up every drop,” she claimed

The former Dancing With the Stars contestant continued: “My poor sister is on her hands and knees, crying in the aisle completely humiliated and exhausted, with her children while everyone else watched. Way to go united.”

In a subsequent Instagram Story, the “Should Have Known Better” artist snuggled with Blaire in a sweet selfie. “Grabbed my sis and the popcorn hazard,” she wrote. “Yes, that’s what the flight attendant told my sister, that popcorn in the aisle is a safety hazard.”

James Decker continued to give her followers updates on the controversy, asking Sydney in an Instagram Story video where she got the snack. “I’m thinking this whole time that the popcorn is something Syd just picked up [in the airport],” she said while filming her sister, who pointed out that United provided the popcorn. “If popcorn is a hazard, why are they giving it on planes?”

One day later, the Kittenish founder revealed during a social media Q&A that United reached out amid the drama. “[Sydney] can share that,” James Decker wrote on Monday, April 17. (The expectant mother has not addressed the situation further, but she uploaded an ultrasound image from a doctors appointment on Monday.)

While the women have a close bond, James Decker has been candid about her highs and lows with brother John James. The twosome reunited with their respective children in February after he hinted during a May 2022 podcast interview that some family members hadn’t “talked in years.”

He noted in an Instagram video after their reunion: “It was one of those moments that you’re not sure if you’re ever going to have, because of everything [that happened]. Like, I wasn’t sure if we’d reconnect like that, so [I’m] super grateful. It was so much fun.”
